Asif Satchu

Asif Satchu is CO-CEO of Media Rights Capital. Mr. Satchu co-founded the business with Co-CEO Modi Wiczyk in 2003. MRC is a leading independent film, television and digital studio. The company specializes in the creation of premium content, custom building distribution for each of its projects and partnering directly with leading creative talent. The firm is backed by a group of media investment and operating firms including Goldman Sachs, advertising conglomerate WPP Group, telecommunications company AT&T, hedge fund DE Shaw and a number of other media private equity and hedge funds.

Prior to co-founding MRC, Mr. Satchu successfully built a number of operating businesses. He was co-founder and Chairman of SMKT, a supply chain management company. The company was backed by a number of leading investment firms including KKR, Sequoia Capital, Madison Dearborn, Fenway Partners, Battery Ventures, Fleet Equity Partners, Hicks Muse and Onex Capital. After successfully building the company, he sold the business for $1.0BN.

Mr. Satchu also co-founded and built one of Canada’s leading self-storage real estate companies. Starting with one facility, the company grew into the third largest Canadian self-storage business, operating across the country under the brands StorageNow!, StorageMax and InStorage. The business was eventually sold and the successor entity is now Canada’s second largest self-storage business.

Mr. Satchu was an investment professional at hedge fund Tiger Management Company and private equity fund Westbrook Partners (a $700MM private equity fund). He began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co.

Mr. Satchu is a graduate of Harvard Business School and McGill University. In addition to his philanthropic work, he is a lead benefactor to the HBS Business Plan Competition and on the board of the Arthur Roc Center of Entrepreneurship.
